Learn Some Chords
Learning some basic open chords is a fantastic place to start your guitaring journey. You don’t need that many. The basic chords are A, B C D E F and G. You will need to learn minor chords which are also easy. The Music theory will explain all of this to get you started here.
Play a Song
The first time you play a couple chords together or play your first song is a real feeling of achievement. Its important to take your time and if you start with small bites of information then add as each becomes easy then you will progress well.
I recommend you read the theory just because you need the basics so you know what other guitarists are saying. Its not hard and will benefit you as you play through the journey to playing well.
Once you understand the basics you can learn a few basic chords which will lead you to playing your first song. I have added some pretty easy songs to start with as well as a beginning blues lesson.
All of these will hopefully have you up and running quickly. Learning to strum and listening to strumming patterns will let you get the chords sound like the song you are playing.
Getting Started Your First Guitar
Once you have decided you have the time and especially the passion to get playing the guitar then its time to choose an acoustic or an electric guitar to get playing. It really doesn’t matter what path you take to be honest.

Playing guitar also has several very exciting paths. You can be the ultimate rhythm guitar player, bringing songs to life which is a great pastime. There are many parts to both rhythm and lead guitar like riffs and rhythmic strumming patterns which bring the song to life as Tommy Emanuel does above. His style and feel has given him a career playing guitar to bring joy and amazement to others.
Lead guitar player’s are often the ones we remember the most with there cutting riffs and soaring guitar solo’s. There are so many amazing guitarists from the past and present that bring these six strings to life in their own personal way.

Basic Music Concept
Music theory for a guitar player can be made difficult to understand but I will do my best to make it easy so you can grasp small concepts and apply them. Music is made up with Keys which dictates how high or low a song is in pitch. These keys dictate what chords you use and allow you to dictate the feeling of a son by which chord you start on.
If your song is a happy one then you would start with a Major chord but if your looking for a sad feel, then you would consider starting on a Minor chord. Its pretty easy so far isn’t it?

Is Learning Guitar Hard?
Learning to play guitar is not hard at all really. It does require some dedication as does any new skill. Taking the first step as a guitar player is deciding you want to learn and more so have a goal of what you want to be able to do.
There are plenty of YouTube videos where people share their path from beginning to playing very well. Its amazing what people achieve when they dedicate some time to learning the guitar.
In just a short time you can grasp a few simple chords and get a feeling for the rhythm of a song which is your strumming hand. There are a lot of patterns but you can start just with a classic 4/4 patters which is simply all down strokes. Simply / / / / repeat.
Whats important I feel is to learn a few chords then find a song that isn’t to fast and play along. With today’s tools we can find songs everywhere and many can use the same chords. Check out your favorite player and then search google using the name of the song an you will find many sites with the lyrics and chords. Print and then play along.
