My personal circumstances are that I have a home in Thailand with my Thai/Australian wife of many years and I wish to return to Thailand to live. There are several reason such as work commitments, medical emergencies and family emergencies that can be approved for international travel exemptions.

Australia Travel Exemption - The THAILAND Requirements

The Thailand requirements are regularly changing as far as options but currently there are a series of options under the Thailand Sandbox Program which are locations deemed to be safe for international travelers to visit.

International travelers must spend 14 days in one of these locations with some having a seven day option should you wish to stay in another sandbox location for the remaining 7 days.

Once completing the 14 day process in which you can move around the Island locations freely and not be restricted to a hotel room.

There are still options where you can do the 14 days isolation in a hotel room in Bangkok for example if that’s your choice. I cant imaging why you would want to do this but yes its an option.

You will be required to take three COVIT-19 tests while on the island.

Your Stay in Paradise

The prime consideration is your and your families health so please remember there is still some COVIT-19 at the sandbox locations. You still MUST wear a mask and washing your hands regularly would still be a great idea. Following the latest medical advice is highly recommended.

In saying that your choice of activities should be planned. I understand there are tour operators available and taking passengers. You can support the local economy and Thai people but caution I believe is your responsible.

The beaches and hotels are great places to relax before your let loose to return to you home in Thailand if this is your path. If your a foreign tourist you can travel around Thailand after you complete the 14 days in the sandbox.

Covit-19 Paradise

Risk & Covit-19 in Sandbox Locations

The Thailand Sandbox opportunity and others likely to be opened up around Thailand and the region do come with dangers you should consider.

If you fly to Thailand and are unfortunate to come into contact on a flight or a bus with someone infected with COVIT-19 or who tests positive during your arrival/stay you can be ordered by local authorities. If this was to happen you would be called by authorities or they may call your hotel who will inform you of the steps required.

The hotel may inform you you must go to a particular hotel and this will be more expensive because they must supply you all your food etc and you will be confined to a room. This is where you may need your covit-19 travel insurance as you may need to claim back your original hotel booking as well as pay for the new hotel.
